Tango Argentino was originally commissioned by the Festival d'Automne, Paris, France, where it opened in November, 1983. That was the start of its international success story.

It arrived in New York in June 1985 for a Week's engagement at City Center. By the end of the week, the ticket was hot, the reviews were raves. ""It ought to stay forever,"" wrote Jennifer Dunning in The New York Times.

It did not take long for Tango Argentino to return to New York. On October 9, 1985 it opened on Broadway at the Mark Hellinger Theatre for a limited engagement of five weeks, but soon proved to be the hit of the new season and the engagement turned into an extended one.

Tango Argentino is one stage spectacle where, alongside the visual elements (primarily the dance of course), the music is the show too.

With this recording, made while the Broadway run was well into 1986, Tango Argentino will stay forever - that is, forever with you.
